Well it is officially summer and I am back in the real world. I have to work all day plus go to summer school. Ya I know, tell me about it. I have been doing a little bit of fishing but that only calms my nerves so much. I have already began my countdown until duck season. Wish it would get here faster.

Finally the day came where I am completely finished with school. No more staying in on weekends to study or afternoon trips will be canceled due to school. Im all about being on the water now with some hog hunts in between. Also for 4th year in a row we are putting in for a gator tag on the Pearl River, hopefully we will be able to get one this year.

Summer is so close I can taste it. I only have a week and a half left of school then it is back to Memphis to work and fish all summer. I have only been able to fish at the little pond behind my neighbors house yet and have caught some fish only about 1 – 1 1/2 pounds but it is better than nothing. I am looking forward to some fishing trips we have planned this summer so keep updated for more info.

All I know is that this crazy idea of school and work is interferring with my hunting and fishing. The priorities of the world are so screwed up. Been real windy down here in Jackson, too windy to bass fish, but have caught a bunch of catfish on the Spillway when the water was up. As far as turkey goes its the same old story. My stepdad has successfully doubled killed with someone sitting next to him three saturdays in a row, what a year for him. I think we have killed around 15 or so birds at my camp which is about average. one more week then time to hit that water.

I have been out on the water in the Afternoons catching crappie. Well…..It has been slow for me, but the people I fish with are having better luck. I have no idea what it is that they like about Tyler’s rig, versus mine, but thats just the way it goes sometimes. I am heading to Jackson MS tonight to hunt with Allyn in the morning. Hope everyone is having a good season

This weather is killing my fishing. One day it is sunny and 85 degrees and then the next day it is cloudy and 30. Once this weather quits changing so dramatically it should turn out ot be a very productive fishing season. We are really looking forward to our trips we have planned and also how everyone is catching them.

Hudson, Hank, Austin and myself Took on Mud Nationals this year in Jacksonville Texas. It was crazy. We had a wild time, I cannot recommend going enough, although, if you have young kids, I would leave them at home.

I have been real busy lately with work and school, but will graduate FINALLY in May. I have been on some unreal turkey hunts this year, but have yet to take one myself. Two weekends ago I called two different toms up within 40 yards, same land, same morning, 1/4 mile from eachother, and both times was unable to get a clean shot. Lots of hunters down here in Jackson have been dealing with the rivers flooding from all the rain. So either hunters not able to get to their land or have had a great season since the birds have been pushed up away from the flooding waters.
Last week I when on a hunt with my stepdad, Howard Garland and family friend West Garraway. Long story short, they sat next to eachother against tree while I was 15 yards or so behind them facing other way. I knew I had them cut off and that the 5 toms gobbling like crazy were about to come directly in front of me. Next thing I know I see Howard staring at me with a smile on his face, he then put his gun up and I knew what was about to happen, two shots fired, two birds down. Double Kill, Howards second this year. Was a great hunt with very talkative birds. Here is a picture of the kill.
